DESCRIPTION:10月は横浜市港町診療所医師の山村淳平さんのお話を聞きます。 \n　テーマ\n１.移民・難民の病気\n２.治療と予防をはばむ社会因子\n３. 移民・難民の受け入れと排除\n４.社会を活性化する移民・難民 \n山村淳平さんについて\n1980年大学卒業後、山形県の病院で3年間、研修医をつとめる。その後、東京都清瀬市の結核研究所で過去の膨大な量のデータを整理し分析する作業を経験したことが、後々の仕事に役立つ。1990年代アジアやアフリカで被災民や難民キャンプの支援活動にかかわる。海外での経験から、「病気の原因というものは患者だけにもとめられるものではない」ことを実感、社会構造の問題が背景にあることに気付く。「社会的弱者、女性や子ども、少数派にしわよせがゆき、病気をひきおこしている。（中略）社会の底辺に位置づけられる貧困層や少数民族は、とりわけ犠牲をしいられる」「少数派の状況をさぐってこそ、社会の本質をより正確にとらえられるのである」「世界でおきている出来事にせっして、わたしは社会に目をひらかされた。この時点で、　 わたしは病気をなおすだけの医者ではなくなった。自身の身を多数派側におくことも、しなくなった。」 \n10月11日\n１３：００〜１４：３０　交流会\n１４：３０〜　ゲストトーク\n１５：３０〜　質疑応答\n*ゲストトークから参加希望の方は１４：３０少し前にお越しください \n会費\n一般：５００円\n学生：１００円\n＊その後運営に関わりたい、会を応援したい方は、入会金１０００円 \nおひとりさま、はじめての方でも、安心してご参加できます。\nいろいろな人と出会って一緒に学びましょう！ \n\nTomoni Ikiru Kai October Event Information \nIn October\, we will hear a talk by Dr. Jumpei Yamamura from Minato-machi Clinic in Yokohama. \nTheme \n\n\nDiseases among immigrants and refugees \n\n\nSocial factors that hinder treatment and prevention \n\n\nAcceptance and exclusion of immigrants and refugees \n\n\nImmigrants and refugees as a force to revitalize society \n\n\nAbout Dr. Jumpei Yamamura \nAfter graduating from university in 1980\, Dr. Yamamura worked for three years as a resident physician at a hospital in Yamagata Prefecture. He then joined the Research Institute of Tuberculosis in Kiyose\, Tokyo\, where he organized and analyzed a large volume of historical data—an experience that later proved invaluable. \nIn the 1990s\, he became involved in relief activities for disaster victims and refugee camps in Asia and Africa. Through his overseas experience\, he realized that “the causes of illness cannot be sought only in the patient\,” but that social structures often lie behind them. He notes: “Socially vulnerable groups—women\, children\, minorities—bear the brunt of hardship\, leading to illness. The poor and ethnic minorities placed at the bottom of society are particularly forced to make sacrifices. By examining the situation of minorities\, one can grasp the essence of society more accurately. Facing what is happening in the world opened my eyes to society. We learned about the increasing Nepali community in Japan and some of the challenges they face. \nIn September\, Ms. Moon will share her ongoing work of supporting and watching over four children who came to Japan as the children of Nepali curry shop owners in Nakano. At present\, the Nepali population has become the second-largest foreign community in Nakano Ward\, surpassing South Korea last year. He will share his experiences as an African American and how he has connected with local communities here in Japan. \nAbout Kyle Sexton\nKyle is the owner of Kyle’s Good Finds\, a beloved American-style cake shop in Japan. \nBorn in Pennsylvania\, USA\, Kyle worked as a technician in a photo lab in New York. One day\, he tasted sushi at a restaurant and was so moved by the experience that he quickly became fascinated with Japanese culture. The more he learned\, the more he felt a deep connection—almost as if he had been Japanese in a past life. \nIn 1984\, at the age of 27\, Kyle finally fulfilled his dream of coming to Japan. After working as an English teacher\, he started his cake shop\, Kyle’s Good Finds. We will hear about the kinds of activities they've been doing at Shapla Neer\, which was founded in 1972. \nKasumi Azuma Profile\nDuring her student years\, Kasumi Azuma learned about the challenges faced by developing countries and has since continuously sought to understand what she could do to help. Through her work as a nursery school teacher\, at facilities for people with disabilities\, and in kindergartens\, as well as her time with the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) in Ethiopia and Egypt\, her desire to create safe and comfortable places where everyone can live authentically intensified. After working as a weekly magazine journalist\, he moved to Thailand. He was affiliated with a local Japanese-language information magazine and spent 10 years covering Thailand and its surrounding countries. After returning to Japan\, he works as a journalist specializing in Asia. His themes are "Japanese People Living in Asia" and "Asian People Living in Japan." \nHe currently resides in Shin-Okubo\, Japan's largest multinational town. He closely engages with foreign communities while conducting his reporting.
