アジア学生文化協会の礎を築いた穂積五一氏について
～日本の国際交流・留学生支援の源流をたどる～
「共に生きる会」では、さまざまな背景を持つ人たちと出会い、知り合い、共に考える時間を大切にしています。
今回のゲストは、公益財団法人アジア学生文化協会 理事長・白石勝己さんです。
同協会は、上杉慎吉が創設し穂積五一氏(1902年3月26日-1981年7月17日)が再興・継承した新星学寮(旧・至軒寮)を母体とし、穂積氏が創設したアジア文化会館、海外産業人材育成協会(旧・海外技術者研修協会)の流れをくむ、日本の社会教育・国際交流の歴史を体現する団体です。
穂積五一氏は日本の社会教育家として新星学寮の主監を務め、日々多くの留学生を受け入れ、国際交流に貢献されました。
今回は、その穂積五一氏と新星学寮・アジア文化会館の歩みについて、当時の資料や事例を交えながら白石さんにお話しいただきます。

「共に生きる会」は、2024年10月に発足した学びと対話の場です。
地域活動を続けてきた「おばあちゃんたち」が中心となり、異なる背景を持つ人と場を共有し、知り合い、気付き、共に生きることを目指しています。
高校生から80代まで幅広い世代が参加し、毎回さまざまなテーマについてゲストのお話を聞きながら学び合っています。
特定の思想・政治・宗教について語る場ではありませんので、初めての方も安心してご参加ください。

The Legacy of Hozumi Goichi, Founder of the Asian Students Cultural Association
Tracing the Roots of International Exchange and Student Support in Japan
At the Living Together Gathering, we create opportunities for people from different backgrounds to meet, learn from one another, and engage in meaningful dialogue.
Our guest speaker is Katsumi Shiraishi, President of the Asian Students Cultural Association (ABK).
The Association traces its roots to Shinsei Gakuryo, a student dormitory in Tokyo originally founded by Ugita Shinkichi and later revived and led by Hozumi Goichi (1902–1981). Hozumi went on to found the Asia Bunka Kaikan (ABK) and what is now the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), shaping the history of civic education and international exchange in postwar Japan.
Mr. Shiraishi will share stories and historical materials from this journey — from Shinsei Gakuryo to the Asia Bunka Kaikan — and the legacy Hozumi Goichi left for generations of international students.
